Multiple local RCMP detachments joined forces to apprehend a suspect in a stolen truck, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant last Sunday.

Bonnyville RCMP received the report on Sunday, May 11 just before noon of a stolen truck from a parking lot at Eastpointe Way in Bonnyville. The truck had two of the owner’s dogs inside.

The vehicle was later spotted by a Cold Lake RCMP member near Elizabeth Metis Settlement and neighbouring detachments moved in to assist.

After refusing to pull over on Highway 897, a spike belt deployed by an Elk Point member forced the vehicle to stop in a field.

The suspect, Myron Moyah, 21, was found to be on a Canada-wide warrant issued by the Parole Board of Canada.

He is charged with:

  • Possession of Property Over $5000,
  • Flight from Police,
  • Driving while Unauthorized,
  • Drive an Uninsured Vehicle,
  • Failing to Comply with a Release Order.

He was brought before a Justice of the Peace who remanded him in custody.

His court date is scheduled for May 20th.

Police say Moyah let the dogs out of the truck at a local construction site before being located by RCMP, and the dogs were returned to their owner unharmed.
