Jaminah’s Bakery and SPECS team up for playground fundraiser

Community came together in St. Paul with a new bakery and parents joining forces as part of a fundraiser.

St. Paul Elementary parent council is working diligently to raise money for a new playground focused for the Grade 4 and 5 students. This new play equipment is not cheap, and they’ve been exploring different methods and sponsorships, as well as government grants, to accomplish their goal.

That’s where Jaminah’s Bakery was able to serve up a helping hand.

By teaming up, the bakery which has been open for two months, were able to donate $1000 to the cause.

“It’s so important for kids to have that outside play time, to have equipment where they can just help develop their gross motor skills and have some of that, that good, risky play too. There’s a good portion that that’s so important for kids development,” said principal Adrienne Dallaire.

“We’re just trying to add some supplemental playground equipment to our growing student population. So you just want to be able to give little more access to the kids at the playground.”

So far, the parent council has raised $121,000 for the parkour inspired play equipment. Their goal is to raise $150K to then pursue government grants.
