Bonnyville RCMP are looking to ID potential suspects in the theft of an Iron River firetruck Thursday morning.

A person of interest, as well as a potential suspect vehicle, were captured on video surveillance when the Iron River Fire Hall was broken into just after 1:00AM on Thursday morning.

The truck was found approximately eight hours later with some minor damage and recovered from a ditch on Range Road 490 just south of Township Road 625.

Believed to be the suspect vehicle.

Coinciding with work to recover the truck, Iron River Fire Department was dispatched to a barn fire less than an hour after the truck was stolen and their response was negatively impacted by the theft.

The fire truck was also the Fire Department’s Medical Emergency Response Unit and could have had a grave negative impact had there been a medical emergency while it was missing, RCMP said.

The truck will be inspected.

Anyone with information on who this person is or information regarding the vehicle they are believed to have driven to the fire hall is urged to contact the Bonnyville RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
