BRFA is moving into the “North Star” new name of services home
The move to the “North Star” is underway for the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority.
As of Monday, the move of BRFA administrative staff has begun, to the new home of all BRFA services, located on the western edge of the Town of Bonnyville.
Following a variety of suggestions from staff, the building will be called North Star, named by Cassidy Burgess, PCP from the EMS Division.
“The North Star is significant as it is often referred to as the star that does not move,” Burgess said in her name idea.
“I feel that emergency services act as an immovable force that will always be present to guide and help in all times. In wayfinding, people look to the North Star and when people in the community need direction or help, they look to us.”
This is part of a staged approach to the massive undertaking of moving all BRFA services, moving the administration into the building first.
“A staged approach will see Station 5 – Bonnyville operate out of the building by May 1, 2025, and for the EMS and Communications Divisions to move through the spring and summer,” said CAO Darren Sandbeck.
All BRFA phone and e-mail contacts remain the same and there will be no disruption in phone service or office hours during the move.
“This is an exciting time in the history of the BRFA as we move all Divisions into a single building, under one roof operating in a coordinated fashion across the organization,” said Alicia Krawchuk, BRFA Regional Chief of Emergency Services.
