Bonnyville RCMP Report Oct. 4-11: Man found on Canada-wide arrest, stolen bank cards, trespassing
The Bonnyville RCMP dealt with 173 calls from October 4-11.
Out on parole re-offender seized after national warrant
A 31-year-old man serving federal time, but released on parole, was found in Kehewin on Thursday.
While out on parole, Craig Alook allegedly re-offended and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest. Bonnyville RCMP they received information that Alook at a residence in Kehewin.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, several members of the Bonnyville RCMP attended the suspected residence. Alook immediately attempted to flee, according to police, with a knife and pipe in his hands.
After a short pursuit on foot, police used “less-lethal use of force” to take Alook back into custody without injury to himself or police.
Alook was sent back to jail to finish serving his statutory sentence.
Wrong plate leads to stolen cards find
On Thursday, Oct. 10 at 4:00AM, a member of the Bonnyville RCMP initiated traffic stop with a vehicle that had the wrong licence plate.
Police determined it was not registered or insured.
The 37 year old passenger was found to be on conditions not to be in a motor vehicle without the owner there, as well in possession of stolen bank cards.
Corey John-Cook of Kehewin is charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Misuse of Credit Card and Failing to Comply with a Release Order Condition.
He was held for a Bail Hearing where the Justice of the Peace released him to appear in court on Nov. 5.
Trespassing
On a property south of Glendon, a neighbour looking after the homeowner’s place spotted a suspicious person.
The report came into police on Friday, Oct. 4, sending RCMP to attend the residence.
RCMP said they found a male at the property without permission.
The 54 year old male from Elk Point was issued a $600 ticket for Trespassing.
Impaired driver
A 54-year-old man is facing provincial sanctions and other charges under the Traffic Safety Act after failing a roadside test.
Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched at about 9:45PM last Saturday night to a suspected impaired driver on Highway 41 near Township Road 622 just north of Bonnyville.
The witness said the driver of the suspect vehicle was swerving so much he nearly hit the ditch.
RCMP located the vehicle and pulled it over.
After failing the test, the County of St. Paul man was issued provincial sanctions for Impaired Driving and also charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving an Uninsured and Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
Breaching conditions
A 46-year-old man was charged with counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.
Police were called to a residence on Thursday at 2:00AM for an intoxicated male.
RCMP attended and found the male, Billy Cardinal, hiding in a shed on the property.
He was brought before a Justice of the Peace who released him, and is scheduled in court on Nov. 5.
