The family of a missing woman from Plamondon is still searching for answers six months after her disappearance.
Rose Simonelis, 54, seemingly vanished on October 5, 2023, without a trace. With almost no leads to whereabouts, her family has been fundraising to try and continue the search and keep the awareness of Simonelis’ disappearance alive.
The family this week achieved one of their fundraising goals through a 50/50 draw — to hire a private investigator to continue the search.
Megan Simonelis, Rose’s daughter, is trying to stay positive as they explore new avenues for answers.
“It’s been a tough time,” Simonelis told Lakeland Connect.
“There’s a lot of grief and worry and anxiety with wrapped up in all of this. So just having a little peace of mind would be amazing for that.”
A candlelight vigil has held in the small community of Plamondon on Dec. 6. Well-wishers came out in support, but still there is little known about Simonelis’ disappearance.
RCMP conducted an initial search, but Megan said, there’s been “no evidence whatsoever” in their pursuits.
Plans are ongoing to do another search. If that is unsuccessful, they now have the funds to hire a private investigator.
“Any information anyone may have, even if they think it might not help, pass it along. Call the RCMP, call CrimeStoppers.”
Rose Simonelis is described as having a fair complexion, blond hair, brown eyes, standing 5 foot 1 inch tall, and 160 lbs.
The help and support of the community has been greatly appreciated, Megan said, and she hopes at the very least that people can continue to share. If they do want to reach out, they can through the email address: mmsimonelis@gmail.com
“We still need to buy supplies for the cause. We want to do our own search again on the property and things like that. So that would probably be the best way, and just keep sharing.
“Keep the conversation alive. Keep the awareness alive, and then keep sharing on social media.”
