Charges laid after stolen vehicle seen driving through Smoky Lake & Vilna area
A suspicious vehicle driving around rural properties led to multiple people facing charges.
Overnight on Monday morning, at roughly 12:05am, Smoky Lake RCMP received multiple reports of a suspicious vehicle, later found to be stolen from Wetaskiwin, was driving around the County, as well as Vilna, Bellis, and Spedden.
Smoky Lake RCMP, with the assistance of St. Paul RCMP and St. Paul Police Dog Services located the stolen vehicle and arrested all occupants without incident.
Edmonton resident, Nathan Vernon Waskewitch, 37, has been charged with:
- Obstruction;
- Failt to comply;
- Possession of stolen property; and
- Assault on Police Officer.
Fishing Lake resident Conway Sinclair Moyah, 22, has been charged with resisting arrest.
Maskwacis resident Robin Faye Strong, 26, were charged with resisting arrest and failing to comply.
Edmonton resident Tamarah Lee Dillion, 30, has been charged with being unlawfully at large on a parole violation and will be remaining in custody.
“Partnership, teamwork and communication was key during this event,” says Sgt. Anita Doktor of the Smoky Lake RCMP. “Big thanks St. Paul RCMP and Police Dog Services for assisting in this occurrence.”
Waskewith was remanded in custody with the next court date of Thursday, April 18, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan.
Moyah was released on conditions and is to appear next on May 9, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan. Strong was released on conditions and is to appear next on May 3, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan.
