Series of thefts in Bonnyville RCMP weekly report

The Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 162 investigations from March 8-15. This trailer is still missing with details below. 

On March 8th at 11:30 am Bonnyville RCMP were called to a local clothing store on 50th Street as there were two intoxicated males throwing items, swearing at staff and scaring patrons.

They left before RCMP arrived but members located them moments later at a different business and arrested them both and held them in custody until they were sober.

Two hours into their stay the Bonnyville RCMP received a report from a local liquor store with video evidence of two males that had stolen from the liquor store earlier in the day.

The suspects on video were identified as the same two previously arrested.  The 33 year old male from Edmonton and 46 year old male from Kehewin were both released the next day when sober with charges of Theft Under $5000 for shoplifting at the Liquor Store.  They will appear in court on May 21st.

Copper wire

On March 10th at 6:50pm Bonnyville RCMP received a report of a suspicious male on an oil lease site a few miles northwest of Bonnyville.  Upon arrival RCMP noted broken glass and located a suspect inside a building with wire all around him.

The suspect was arrested and found to be on a condition from a previous arrest/charge to not be in possession of break-in tools. Robert Woods, 46 year old, of Bonnyville, is charged with Breaking & Entering, Mischief/Damage to Property Over $5000, Possessing Break-in Instruments and 2 counts of Failing to comply with a Release Order.

He was remanded in custody and appears in court on March 19th.

Stolen trailer 

On March 12th a Dodge Ram Truck and black flatdeck Featherlite trailer were stolen from a rural residence north of Bonnyville.  The truck and trailer were spotted on a rural property near Goodridge but were scared off.

The next day the truck was located on Beaver Lake Cree Nation South of Lac La Biche. In possession of the truck was 38 year old George Lewis from Beaver Lake Cree Nation.

He was arrested by Lac La Biche RCMP and charged with 3 counts of Possession of Stolen Property and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. He was remanded in custody and set to appear in Lac La Biche Court on March 18th.

Break & Enter

On March 14th at 6:30 pm Bonnyville RCMP received a report of a Break & Enter from a friend of the homeowner who advised the suspect was still inside his friend’s home.

The caller scared the male away but RCMP immediately attended the area of the 5100 block of 50 Street and located the male.

Ashley Klassen, 40 year old, of Bonnyville is charged with Breaking & Entering a Residence, Mischief/Damage to Property Over $5000, Possess Break-In Instruments, Theft Under $5000, Possession of over 30 grams of dried Cannabis and Failing to Comply with a Release Condition.

He was awaiting a bail hearing at the time of this media release.

Stolen vehicles

On March 12th a Ford F150 was stolen from a hotel on main street and recovered later that day in Cold Lake.  Cold Lake RCMP arrested and charged 37-year-old Shawn Dean of Cold Lake with Possession of the Stolen Truck Over $5000, Driving while Suspended and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking.  He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released from custody.  His first court appearance is March 27th in Cold Lake.

There were 6 motor vehicles reported stolen this week.  In addition to the three mentioned above, there were 3 others:
– On March 8th a dirtbike was stolen from a residence on the 4300 block of 43 Street and later recovered.
– On March 11th a Dodge Durango was stolen from the 4000 block of 40 Street.  It was recovered a few hours later in Cold Lake.
– On March 11th a Ford F350 was stolen from Fort Kent and recovered two days later on Lakeshore Drive.
