Police Dog Services involved in stolen truck recovery; charges laid

Charges have been laid after a victim reported their vehicle stolen and their credit card being used.

A vehicle owner in Fort Kent reported the incident on March 11 of their stolen Dodge Ram. This information was reported on the Voyent app.

On Tuesday, March 12, at 5:0 pm Bonnyville RCMP received a call from a community member that spotted a stolen truck they had seen on the Voyent Alert app.  

RCMP members from Bonnyville Detachment, the Eastern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and Police Dog Services immediately sought out the vehicle at its last known location and located it near Highway 28 on Range Road 470.  

Two females were located and arrested at the scene while two males that had fled on foot were tracked down by Police Dog Services and arrested. 

Nevada Desjarlais, 19, of Elizabeth Metis Settlement. is charged with being in Possession of the Stolen Truck Over $5000, 2 Counts of Mischief / Damage to Property Under $5000, Driving Uninsured, Driving while Prohibited, Dangerous Driving and 2 counts of Failing to Comply with Release Conditions

Matthew Francois, 30, of Cold Lake First Nations is charged with Possession of the Stolen Truck Over $5000, Identity Theft and Misuse of a Credit Card.  

Both males have been remanded into custody until their first appearance of March 19th.  The two females were released without charge.
