Bonnyville Pontiacs recognize successes at Awards Banquet

The Bonnyville Pontiacs have put the bow on the regular season, recognizing outstanding achievements in the regular season.

The Yaks team awards banquet was a low-key affair on Friday night, hosted at the Nova VIP Lounge at the RJ Lalonde Arena.

Preparation is underway for the Pontiacs to begin the 2024 post-season against the Drumheller Dragons, expected to begin at home on Friday, March 15.

Each of the four graduating 20-year-olds — Luka Sukovic, Tyler Blocha, JR Ashmead, and Josh Simpson — were presented with canvas pictures as gifts.

Most Gentlemanly Players – Max Seguin

Most Improved Player – Jordan Schanbacher

Rookie of the Year – Dante Siciliano (unpictured, away to campus visit to Maine)

Top Defenseman – JR Ashmead (back-to-back winner)

Neil Crawley Plus/Minus Award Winner – JR Ashmead (+19)

Top Defensive Forward – Nicolas Beaudoin

Top Forward – Luka Sukovic

Viterra Three Star Award (League determined) – Luka Sukovic

MVP – Luka Sukovic

Leading Point Scorer – Luka Sukovic (67)

Matt Cook Unsung Hero – Josh Simpson

President’s Award – Tyler Blocha
