Cyr rails on “coward” Trudeau for snubbing AB leadership on recent visit
MLA for the Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul riding did not mince words when asked what he thought of the recent visit to Alberta by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
While making announcements in Edmonton, Premier Danielle Smith said the trip was unbeknownst to her, and no invitation for a meeting was extended.
“The Prime Minister’s a coward,” Cyr said live on Lakeland Connect.
“He’s out there making announcements in Alberta, in our capital city, and not actually wanting to sit down with the Premier or our cabinet. You know what, if this was to happen in any other province, this would be unusual. Yet, for some reason he can get out there, get on stage and take potshots at our government — he actually even said that the carbon tax is a conservative policy.

“It shows that they’re backtracking on a lot of the policy decisions they’ve made because it’s just bad policy. Now again, if he wants to come and actually have constructive conversations, then by all means. But getting up in front of cameras and really going into straight on brawl mode with the province of Alberta, the citizens of Alberta and ignoring our Premier, that’s just distasteful. But that’s what we’ve come to expect from the Prime Minister.”
Trudeau was in the city to announce $175 million in spending on fast-tracking the upwards of 5,200 housing units.
