Local athletes head to Grande Prairie for Alberta Winter Games
Lakeland Connect is providing coverage of the 2024 Alberta Winter Games this year in Grande Prairie.
Athletes from Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St. Paul, Lac La Biche, and across the Lakeland region are representing Zone 7 in this year’s Winter Games.
The event kicks off on Friday with the closing ceremonies on Family Day Monday.
With the recent announcement that the Lakeland will play host in 2026, local leaders are expected to be on hand at the games, getting acquainted with what it takes to put it on.
Bonnyville and Cold Lake did host in 2010.
In preparation for the games, five local volleyball players — Memphis Theroux, Ala Krawchuk, Kennady Pierce, Jada Amyotte and Sophie Dechaine — were joined by Husband Chad, who will be on scene providing coverage of the Games.
Chad will be in Grande Prairie providing coverage presented by the Town of Bonnyville and Xtreme Oilfield Technology, with thanks to Ducharme Motors, Dynamo Small Engine Sales & Service, and Lakeland Co-op.
