Helping students with their mental health is a major discussion these days, and Northern Lights Public Schools is trying a different approach with a program in partnership with Alberta Health Services.

It’s called the Community Helpers Program and looks to provide training for adults so students can speak to someone about their mental health.

A parent information session is planned on Thursday, Feb. 29 from 1:00pm-2:00pm, and then also from 7:00pm-8:00pm.

The idea is they would be an outlet for students 13 and older who are struggling, but may need an initial step before seeking formal help.

If you are interested in joining this virtual session, email kimberly.turchyn@nlsd.ab.ca with the time you would like to join and the link will be shared with you.
