UPDATE: heavy police presence ends

UPDATE 2: Three people held in police custody following firearms complaint.

On Dec. 30, 2023, at 3:20 a.m., St Paul RCMP responded to a firearms complaint on GoodFish Lake First Nation. Police had received information that multiple people were at a residence with firearms.

 

 

 

St. Paul RCMP attended the residence, but the suspects departed prior to police arrival. A short time later, the suspects were observed driving in a vehicle. Simultaneously, while RCMP members were investigating the firearms complaint, received an additional complaint of a residential fire in Goodfish Lake First Nations. It is believed the two occurrences are connected.

 

 

 

St. Paul RCMP, with the assistance of Lloydminster and Cold Lake Police Dog Services, RCMP Air Services, RCMP Emergency Response Team and multiple surrounding detachments contained the area and located three suspects without further incident.

 

 

 

As a result of the investigation, three people have been arrested. The two males and one female, who cannot be named until an information is sworn, have been held in Police custody pending a Judicial Interim Hearing.

 

 

 

RCMP believe that this was a targeted incident and there is no concern for public safety. Additional information will be provided when available.

UPDATE:

St Paul RCMP advise that the heavy police presence on Goodfish Lake First Nation is over. There is no concern for public safety at this time and an additional release is anticipated as the investigation develops.

BACKGROUND:

St Paul RCMP would like to advise the public of a heavy police presence on Goodfish Lake First Nation, near Highway 857 and Township Road 574. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

We ask that photos of responding officers not be placed on social media until after the incident is over.
