Nov. 11th commemorating Remembrance Day in the Lakeland
Remembrance Day ceremonies are slated across the Lakeland this Saturday.
In Cold Lake, 4 Wing is getting involved in a major way once again at the Cold Lake Energy Centre. Spectators are asked to arrive at Imperial Oil Place at 10:30am, with the parade to begin at 10:45am.
The Bonnyville event is outdoors, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #183. It is scheduled to start at 10:45am. Willie McGregor, a 100-year-old WWII veteran, is anticipated to lay a wreath during the ceremony. Coffee and refreshments inside are being offered.
At the St. Paul Rec Centre, observers are asked to come early at 10:00am, as there will be a half-hour of videos commemorating Nov. 11. The program begins at 10:30 with the entrance of the 401 Tactical Fighter Squadron from 4 Wing, as well as first responders.
Elk Point’s ceremony will begin with a parade at 10:45am from the Seniors Centre to the Cenotaph, with a short program and two minutes of silence at 11:00am, along with the laying of the wreaths.
Remembrance Day in Lac La Biche also starts at 10:45am by the Cenotaph outside of the Legion building. Members are invited for a light lunch afterwards.
