It doesn’t get any closer.
The St. Paul Bengals defended home field to win 14-13 over the Bonnyville Bandits and claim the Wheatland Bantam Football League title.
Bonnyville had a 13-1 lead heading into the 4th quarter, before the home side started to rally back.
Both these teams will move on, however, into Provincials, so a rematch for all the marbles is within the realm of possibility.
St. Paul will host the Edmonton Seahawks on Saturday. They are undefeated this season and this marks back-to-back championships.
Meanwhile, a long journey for the Bandits lies ahead. They will go to Grande Prairie for the Provincial semi-final.
