NDHS girls golf team wins 3rd consecutive ASAA bronze; boys place 6th
Another year, another bronze for the Notre Dame Wildcats girls golf team.
NDHS earned their third straight ASAA Provincial bronze last week down in Lloydminster, and the boys had another strong finish as well, taking 6th place overall.
Nicole Dugas (Gr. 11), Sydney Parke (Gr. 12), Kaitlyn Welsh (Gr. 12), Julia Munday (Gr. 10) take home the hardware from the event,
This is Welsh’s third bronze, while Parke and Dugas got her second bronze. Dugas led the way with low scores and had a top-20 performance.
The boys, featuring Parker Hopf (Gr. 12), Xavier Sylvestre (Gr. 12), Carson Croteau (Gr. 11), Gunnar Ives (Gr. 11), didn’t have the first day they were looking for, said coach Jeff Cey.
But they battled on the second day to maintain their 6th place, but were only five strokes out of 4th place.
“It’s super competitive in the 2A category. There’s some private schools in Calgary that are golf schools, kinda year round, those boys were under par on both courses,” said Cey.
Each team earned the right to represent the northeast by winning at zones in Mundare.
