Lac La Biche RCMP arrest male on Canada wide warrant
On May 13, 2023, at 2:50 a.m., Lac La Biche RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked in a back alley. Upon police arrival, they located a male passed out behind the wheel, as well as a prohibited firearm on the passenger seat. Police checks on the suspect vehicle showed that it was stolen out of Fort McMurray earlier in the week.
Officers attempted a high-risk takedown on the vehicle to effect an arrest, however, the driver awoke and was able to maneuver his stolen vehicle out. Officer pursued with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team (North) and officers from Fort McMurray. The pursuit led to a rural area north of Lac La Biche on logging roads. The RCMP plane attended and located the suspect vehicle. Police Dog Services from St. Paul and Wood Buffalo were called to assist, and soon after, the suspect was located and taken into custody.
Mark Andrew Tremblay (33), a resident of Fort McMurray, was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for being unlawfully at large on a parole breach. He has further been charged with:
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- Operate motor vehicle while prohibited
- Fail to remain at scene of accident
- Mischief damage to property over $5000
- Possession stolen property over $5000
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Unsafe storage of firearm
- Possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
- Possession of firearm knowing possession us unauthorized
- Possession firearm contrary to court order (4 counts)
- Possession weapon dangerous purpose
Tremblay was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is May 29, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Lac La Biche.
