Writ drops for Alberta provincial election

The writ has officially dropped indicating provincial election campaigns are now underway.

Both Danielle Smith and Rachel Notley began their bids to become the Premier on Monday.

The election date is four weeks from now on Monday, May 29.

In the Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul constituency, the UCP candidate is Scott Cyr and the NDP candidate is Caitlyn Blake.

This signals the end of MLA David Hanson’s term as the UCP representative for the new constituency.

Previously, he was the MLA for Lac La Biche-St. Paul-Two Hills.
