Centennial Centre evacuated due to threat

Update 2

Due to an incident earlier in the evening, the Centennial Centre will be closed early at 7:00 pm on Saturday January 28th.

 

The RCMP responded to a report of an incident at the C2. The police have everything under control, and the public are safe.

 

The Centennial Centre will be open at 8:00 tomorrow, Sunday January 29th.

UPDATE

The all-clear has been given and public is allowed back into the Centennial Centre following a search of the facility.

 

Bonnyville RCMP responded to a complaint of a person with a firearm at the Centennial Center in Bonnyville. Bonnyville RCMP attended the location and spoke with witnesses who advised no shots were fired and no firearm was located. Bonnyville RCMP continue to investigate the complaint.

 

There are no reported injuries.

There is no threat to the public

 

BACKGROUND

Police have evacuated the Bonnyville & District Centennial Centre following a threat.

 

A souce explained to Lakeland Connect that there was a gun threat and the public was evacuated from the Centennial Centre on Saturday.

 

The police are on the scene searching the building and investigating the threat.

 

It is unknown when the facility will be open to the public again.
