New rehab treadmill getting daily use at Cold Lake Healthcare Centre

Those rehabbing at the Cold Lake hospital will have some new equipment thanks to donations.

A new treadmill is now at the health care centre after Hearts for Healthcare and TD Canada Trust teamed up and worked on corporate sponsorships as well as this year’s Hearts for Healthcare Wellness Raffle to generate funds for the equipment.

So far, it is being used daily, says AHS, for clients in outpatient physiotherapy, acute care, and as part of the stroke unit equivalency care program.

This treadmill has a higher weight capacity to accommodate bariatric clients, slower speeds for those with mobility issues, and incline and decline options which can be used to improve gait and strength.

Designed specifically for rehab use, it’s also equipped with longer handrails with built-in controls to aide with balance.

“We are so grateful to everyone who contributed.”
