There will be no physician coverage at the Lac La Biche Emergency Room overnight Tuesday.

AHS said in a press release on Monday, that the William J. Cadzow Healthcare Centre Emerge will be without on-site physician coverage from 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9 until 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10.

“This is a temporary measure and AHS is working hard to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time,” AHS said in a release. 

Nursing staff will remain on-site in the ED providing triage and assessments, and referrals for patients to alternate EDs in surrounding communities as needed.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS will remain available to the community and will be re-routed to alternate healthcare centres to ensure local residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need.
