RCMP say cause of death of 21-year-old in Lac La Biche is pending test results

The RCMP continues to investigate the death of 21-year-old Tytiana Janvier.

Police have not deemed the death suspicious and the RCMP said they are actively working on the investigation.

“On March 15, an autopsy of the 21-year-old female was completed at the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner,” Media Relations Officer Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said. “The cause of death is pending test results.”

The circumstances surrounding the 21-year-old female’s death remains under investigation by the Lac La Biche RCMP along with the assistance of the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit. At this point details from the RCMP about the death are scarce.

“When you look at a medical examiner report, there are multiple steps,” Cpl. Savinkoff said. “First would be an examination of the individual and then there are follow-ups, blood samples and they send those away for contents and then ultimately the medical examiner gives us an opinion.”

Cpl Savinkoff says it’s important for the RCMP when conducting an investigation like this to maintain the security of that investigation by not jumping to any conclusions unless the evidence is overwhelming in one direction. In this particular case we’re waiting on the autopsy results. As you know, we haven’t dictated whether or not this is a suspicious death or a sudden death.”

No further details can be provided at this time.
