An RCMP roadside check of a driver in Kehewin has netted a suspended driver who was wanted on outstanding warrants.

On February 25, at 10:45 p.m., a member of the Bonnyville RCMP ran a roadside check with a truck parked in Kehewin whose licence plate didn’t match.

“There was nobody in the driver’s seat but had several passengers in it who advised the driver was in a nearby business,” Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke said. “The member advised the occupants that the licence plate didn’t match and he suspected the vehicle didn’t have registration.”

As a result, the Mountie advised them to keep the truck parked until the licence plate and registration were in order.

“Thirty minutes later the member located the same truck in motion on Road 2 in Kehewin,” Staff Sgt. Parke said.

He conducted a roadside check again with the truck, meanwhile, a van that was travelling with the truck also pulled over.

The Mountie spoke with the driver who was able to produce valid insurance and was issued warnings on the registration and licence plate.

He then spoke with the driver of the van who turned out to be on outstanding warrants and a suspended driver.

It is unclear what the outstanding warrants were for.

“The 18-year-old female from Onion Lake was arrested and ticketed with Driving while Suspended,” Staff Sgt. Parke concluded.
