2022-2023 NLPS School Calendar Approved

The Northern Lights Public School (NLPS) Board of Trustees approved the division’s 2022-2023 School Calendar on Feb. 9.

Several changes were made to the original draft of the calendar based on the feedback received in the discussion forums on the Engage NLPS site. The division received a total of 99 comments and suggestions from parents and staff about the draft calendar.

Christmas break, which was originally scheduled to begin December 9 and end January 3, has been shifted a full week and will now run from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6, with students and staff returning to school on Monday, January 9.

“To give families a little more time for travel and Christmas preparations, the no school day that was originally scheduled for Jan. 2 was moved to Dec. 23, and will now be a Family Friday,” the NLPS stated on their website.

The third change does not affect students, but will affect staff. Nov. 25 was originally set as a professional development day for staff, with Dec. 9 as a day off for staff in lieu of parent teacher interviews. Those days have now been swapped so the in lieu day is now Nov. 25 and the staff professional development day is Dec. 9. Both are no school days for students.

The final draft of the calendar has the same number of operational days (192) and instructional days (178) as the previous draft and the 2021-2022 school calendar.

The updated calendar is available on the NLPS website: 2022-2023 School Calendar.
