Alberta RCMP Major Crimes to investigate suspicious death on Saddle Lake Cree Nation

Police are looking for the public’s assistance to help solve a suspicious death on Saddle Lake Cree Nation.

According to an RCMP news release, “On June 7, at approximately 9:05 a.m., the St. Paul RCMP received a call that a gunshot had been heard at a residence on Saddle Lake Cree Nation and a vehicle fled.”

Police say the caller then went out and located an injured person in the driveway.

The St. Paul RCMP attended the scene along with emergency medical services and it was determined that the male was deceased and the circumstances of the male’s death were suspicious.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes have taken over carriage of this investigation and are at the scene. St. Paul RCMP, along with Eastern Alberta District RCMP General Investigation Section and RCMP Forensic Identification Section, are assisting and have secured the scene.

“It is very early in this investigation and further details are not available,” the RCMP stated. “Further information will be released when available.”

The St. Paul RCMP are asking the public’s assistance for any information in relation to this incident, or if you have dash cam footage on Saddle Lake Cree Nation between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on June 7, 2021, to please contact St. Paul RCMP at 780-645-8870 or your local police.
