Bonnyville RCMP Briefs
The Bonnyville RCMP took 131 calls for service during this week.
Detachment Commander, Sgt. Hillier says 49 of those calls were traffic-related to enforcement.
On May 22, while the Mounties were on patrol with the M.D. of Bonnyville Peace Officers they stopped a black Honda SXS700. The driver, a 31-year-old male from Fort McMurray provided a breath sample that registered a FAIL. He was issued roadside sanctions under the Provincial legislation for a first-time offender.
On May 23, a resident reported a suspicious silver pickup pulling into their driveway on Township 624A near Range Road 453. The vehicle had been seen multiple times. Members continue to patrol the area but have been unable to locate the suspect.
The RCMP initiated a traffic stop on May 24, Mounties noticed the vehicle accelerating, braking, and swerving. The police officer saw open liquor in the vehicle, and the Approved Screening Device demand was read to the suspected impaired driver. The driver, a 45-year-old female from Maskwacis blew a FAIL. She was subject to Provincial sanctions for a first offence and violation tickets were issued. A first offence carries a $1000 fine, a roadside vehicle suspension, and a vehicle seizure.
Meanwhile late that day, a resident reported a white 27ft 2018 Avalon Starcraft, travel trailer with the licence plate of 5px206 ab, stolen from a campground near Goodridge, in the MD of Bonnyville. The travel trailer remains outstanding.
On May 25, the Mounties attended a residence in the area of 41 St in Bonnyville after a complaint of some suspicious activity. After some investigation members determined that a utility trailer that was parked behind the residence had been stolen from Cold Lake and that the registered owner was not aware that his trailer was missing.
During the investigation into the stolen utility trailer members also determined that there was a stolen holiday trailer on the property.
During the search of the holiday trailer by the Mounties, a firearm was located that led to further charges. 37-year-old Marjorie Nicholls from Bonnyville has been charged with multiple charges resulting from this investigation. She was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released $250.00 cash bail to appear in court on June 1, 2021.
