10 more cases in Bonnyville, one dead in Vermilion.

J.A. Williams High School in Lac La Biche is now listed as having an alert on the province’s school map for COVID-19 cases. An alert means there are between two and four cases of COVID-19 among staff or students at the school, and remains in effect until there have been no new confirmed cases in the school for 28 days.

Province-wide, 13 per cent of schools are on alert or have outbreaks as of Feb. 4.

Outbreaks are still considered active at a number of Lakeland locations including:

Lac La Biche – William J. Cadzow Health Care Centre and Auxiliary, Lakeland Out of the Elements Shelter

Smoky Lake – Bar-V-Nook Manor

Bonnyville – Extendicare Bonnyville

Cold Lake – Cenovus Foster Creek, Imperial Oil

St. Paul – St. Therese Health Care Centre

In terms of case counts, active numbers have continued to decline across the Lakeland, except in Bonnyville, with no or minimal increases to the total number of cases. Bonnyville is the exception with ten new cases of COVID-19 reported. Vermilion also saw another death.

Across the province, Alberta saw an increase of 396 cases of COVID-19 and nine new deaths reported Feb. 4. There are 475 people in hospital, with 89 of them in intensive care.
