Mammogram screen test van making stops locally in coming weeks

Women in the Lakeland may want to save a couple dates when a mobile service that can help detect breast cancer makes stops at local communities.

Screen Test is a service provided by Alberta Health Services that offers screening mammograms through two mobile screening units, one of which will be in Bonnyville, Cold Lake, and St. Paul over the coming weeks.

The screening van will be in Bonnyville from February 8-10 and February 18-24.

Stops in March will be in Cold Lake from March 1-9 and then St. Paul from March 10-20.

AHS said they suspended screening services at the beginning of the pandemic, which delayed the arrival of the services to many communities.

Screen Test will be mailing recalls to clients who are due or overdue for their mammogram about a month before the clinic appointment.

AHS recommends that women aged 50 or older should be getting regular screenings as part of their checkups.

Residents can talk to their doctor or call 1-800-667-0604 for more information.

The mobile unit is currently in Wainwright until Feb. 2.
