Second COVID-19 related death listed in Two Hills County on provincial map

A COVID-19 related death is being reported on Alberta’s virus data map on Wednesday in Two Hills County.

This is the second death reported on the provincial site in the municipality. There have been two deaths listed on the site in Lac La Biche County, one in Smoky Lake County, and one in Vermilion River County.

There are 38 active cases in Two Hills County.

In the Lakeland, 19 new cases were confirmed total for the area on the provincial map, which represented a drop from the past couple weeks.

Active cases fell in the Cold Lake and Lac La Biche areas again Wednesday as well.

There are 36 active cases in the Cold Lake “local geographic area” on the map, 34 are active when searched my municipality. This represents three new recoveries and one new case.

One case is active on reserve in Cold Lake First Nations.

There are 56 cases active in the Lac La Biche area and County. Beaver Lake Cree Nation reported there are zero active cases on Tuesday with recoveries on the rise.

Case totals remain relatively the same in the Bonnyville and St. Paul areas.

There are 130 active cases in the County of St. Paul. Eight cases are active in Saddle Lake, reported by News, Events, and Information page on Tuesday, with one in hospital. Recoveries have increased to 244 as of Dec. 14.

Zero new cases in the Bonnyville area on Wednesday. There are 35 active when searched by “local geographic area” and 48 active when searched by municipality in the M.D. of Bonnyville. Six active cases Kehewin Communications last update Monday with 50 recovered.

Frog Lake First Nation reported in an update Tuesday that 28 cases are active, after two new confirmed cases and two recoveries.

In the “local geographic area” on the provincial map, there are 64 active cases in the Frog Lake area with 34 recoveries.

There are 55 active cases in Vermilion River County, that number increases to 72 active when searched by “local geographic area.”

There are 28 active cases in the Smoky Lake area, but 77 active when searched by municipality. Smoky Lake County’s case totals change by over 250 depending on how it’s searched on the map.

Provincial update

New cases of the virus went down again on Wednesday. Chief medical officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw confirmed 1,270 new cases after roughly 17,500 tests.

The provincial positivity rate dropped a point to 7.3 per cent.

There are 749 Albertans in hospital with 139 of those in ICU’s.

In the past 24 hours, 16 deaths were reported to Alberta Health related to COVID-19.
