Bonnyville seeking new registries operation

Last Updated: July 27, 2020By Tags: ,

The provincial government has put forward a request for proposal (RFP) for companies to propose to run a motor vehicle and registries administration office.

The move comes following a large number of complaints from Bonnyville residents to Registries Assurance Alberta.

A Facebook group also surfaced with over 400 members. The group, Bonnyville Registries Complaints has complaints ranging from lack of hours of operation to poor service experiences.

Due to the population of Bonnyville, there is only one licensed registries office has previously been allowed to open.

The RFD did not indicate if the current registries office is closing, and if it is closing, whether that is by choice or if has been closed by the government.

Registries is responsible for the administration of the Motor Vehicle Registry, Personal Property Registry, Corporate Registry, Vital Statistics Office, Land Titles Office, and the Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Registry in Alberta. Registries is also responsible for frontline registration services for the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan, and licensing for security service workers, locksmiths and investigators. Private Registry Agents were established in response to Albertans’ needs for timely and efficient access to face-to-face government registration, information, and licensing products and services.

For a bid package, companies are directed to contact Registries Alberta.

Contacting Manager: Agnes Connors agnes.connors@gov.ab.ca

Bidding is open now and will close August 18th, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
