Plamondon’s biggest event of the year, attracting upwards of 2,000 people over a weekend has been cancelled due to COVID-19 regulations.

The Plamondon Mud Bogs is a sanctioned event, sponsored by the Canadian Mud Racers Organization (CMRO), with ATV races, professional mud racing with CMRO, and amateur mud racing. Racers from all over the Lakeland compete to get their chance to win some of the $21,000 in prize money.

There is also a slo-pitch tournament, dances, a monster truck exhibition, and on-site camping.

Lori Tarrant, who works for the Plamondon District Community Development Society (PDCDS), is disappointed the were unable to have the Mud Bogs this year.

“It’s our big main event, and we’re sad that we were not able to do it this year,” said Tarrant.

“A lot of people were not happy that this year had to be cancelled. We weren’t able to schedule it for a later date because this isn’t something we could do last minute. There is a lot of planning that goes into the event, so unfortunately we will have to wait until next year.”
