Accident closes Highway 28 west of Bonnyville
UPDATE 2:10pm.
This morning at approximately 7:45 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded to a report of a three vehicle collision on Highway 28 near Township Road 604 southwest of Bonnyville.
Preliminary investigation revealed an SUV was travelling eastbound on Highway 28 and a car was travelling westbound when a collision occurred. A second car travelling westbound then collided with the two vehicles.
The 38-year-old lone female occupant from Elk Point in the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The lone female occupant of the first car suffered serious life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital and then air lifted via STARS to Edmonton. The lone male occupant of the second car was taken via EMS to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic on Highway 28 was diverted for several hours while police investigated but is now open. Icy road conditions were reported at the time of the collision.
Bonnyville RCMP along with a RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate.
Family & friends have started a GoFundMe campaign for the woman who had passed in the accident to assist the children she left behind.

RCMP are advising motorists that Highway 28 west of Bonnyville at Range Road 464, Kissel Corner, is closed due to an accident.
Emergency crews are are on site. No word on injuries.
Motorists are advised to find alternative routes and use caution as roads are under icy conditions.
