96-metre long load traveling through Lakeland highways

Starting on Sunday an oversized load the length of a football field will be traveling on highways near the Lakeland which may cause drivers delays.

A 96 metre long pressure vessel, called an evaporator, which treats water for oil sands steam generators, will travel from Edmonton on Highway 28 and Highway 55 on its way toward Fort McMurray.

It leaves late Sunday evening to arrive in Two Hills on Tuesday.

The evaporator will then leave the next morning to Radway.

“The load will move with pilot and escort vehicles and use the entire width of the highway, including the shoulder,” reads the provincial media release.

The oversized load will leave Edmonton on Highway 14 east to Highway 36, north to Highway 28, Highway 28 west to Highway 63, and Highway 63 north to Highway 55 east to Highway 63.
