Bonnyville town council was crowded with community groups looking for their yearly funding on Tuesday.

The Bonnyville and District FCSS, the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority, the Centennial Centre, Ronald McDonald House and Bonnyville and District SPCA presented delegations to town council, showed their yearly financials and hope to receive funding for next year.

The Town considers these asks before starting budget talks for 2020.

“They come every year and present their budget and some of the key programs or things they did in the past year,” said Deputy Mayor Elisa Brosseau.

“This year we wanted any group that we have funded or have given money to come and give us a highlight of where they are with their budgets and what they’ve done for the past year.”

A decision with the SPCA, who are seeking sustainable funding, will also be considered.

“All of them want to continue with the funding. In specifics, the SPCA was a one-time donation but they do want us to talk about some long-term sustainable funding, something they can bank on every year getting from the municipality. It will be something we talk about when we do our budget deliberations.”
