“It was a great success!” beamed Kristy L’Hirondelle following Saturday’s Redneck’s with a Cause’s annual gala. The organization that raises funds for autism programming, education and awareness brought in over $30,000 and a heck of a good time on April 26th.
After selling out the first 30 tables in under two weeks, the organization decided to expand and add another 10 tables. There was a little extra room this year, with the event, held in École Notre Dame High School. A total of 320 people attended and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and delicious BBQ, catered by Yums the Word.
“The new venue was amazing, much more space,” L’Hirondelle thanked Lakeland Catholic School District, ÉNDHS and principal Vince Spilla for allowing them to use the space.
“The generosity of this community is outstanding,” complimented L’Hirondelle. She went on to thank her “amazing team”, the Rednecks; Marc L’Hirondelle, Karen Strong, Kim Barrie, Jason Barrie, Susan Bishop, and Gary Mostert.
A special thanks went out to Tina Kissel, who once again had the crowd in stitches, with her emcing duties. Dave Collins served as the live auctioneer and helped bring in $26,000 from the ten live auction items. The silent auction showcased over 100 items and brought in an additional $13,700.
Choquet Insurance hosted a special auction on Lakeland Connect and raised $500 for the cause.
The Bonnyville Beef & Beaver River Beef 4-H clubs supplied volunteers to help the night run smoothly.
“Thank you to everyone who attended and donated silent & live auction items,” L’Hirondelle noted that the community really came together to support the organization.
The Rednecks are in the process of researching their next speaker to come to the community. Last year, the group brought in Temple Grandin.
