Lac La Biche RCMP charge man with kidnapping

A 25 year old Bonesville man has been charged with kidnapping and nine other offenses following an incident outside of Lac La Biche.

Beaver Lake Cree Nation, Alta. – On April 22, 2019 at approximately 6:00 a.m., Lac La Biche RCMP responded to a report of a kidnapping at a residence south of Lac La Biche at Beaver Lake Crescent.

Police attended a residence where it is alleged that a male and two females were assaulted and one of the females was then forcefully removed and placed into a vehicle which fled before police arrived. The suspect and female victim were later located at a separate residence, inside a different parked vehicle.

Lac La Biche RCMP with assistance from the Emergency Response Team, Major Crimes Unit, RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services attended the scene.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., the suspect male was taken into custody without incident. The female victim suffered minor injuries.

John Mountain, (25) of Bonesville, Alta., was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  •           Kidnapping
  •           Forcible confinement
  •           Break and enter
  •           Assault (x3)
  •           Fail to comply (x4)

He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on April 29, 2019.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.
