Cold Lake RCMP cruiser damaged by fleeing vehicle

RCMP are asking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in ramming a police cruiser.

On April 20, 2019 at approximately 10:45 a.m., a member of the Cold Lake RCMP detachment was making pro active patrols on the Elizabeth Metis Settlement. A red car with unknown occupants was observed parked in a driveway, matching the description of a suspect vehicle from a previous incident. The member attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the vehicle rammed the police cruiser as it drove out of the driveway. There was minimal damage to the police cruiser and the police officer was not injured during the event.

The Cold Lake Police Dog Service (PDS) assisted Cold Lake RCMP members in locating the vehicle which was on fire a short distance away. Fire services attended and doused the flames before it spread to the surrounding area. An extensive search was conducted for the suspects but they were not located in the vicinity.
