Two grade 12 students at École Notre Dame High School (ÉNDHS) had outstanding results this year on the Provincial Diploma Exams (PDEs). Lakeland Catholic School District would like to congratulate Ceara Cabana and Jacob Lafond on these exceptional results.
Ceara earned 100% on the Biology 30 exam, 98% on the Chemistry 30 exam and 99% on the Math 30-1 exam. Jacob Lafond earned 95% on the Math 30-1 exam.
Deputy Superintendent Pamela Guilbault said, “We would like to honour and congratulate these students on their remarkable achievement.”
École Notre Dame High School’s Career and Academic Counselor Ms. Carol Rainey said, “We are very proud of Ceara and Jacob’s accomplishment. They both worked extremely hard to achieve their academic goals.”
“You cannot let Ceara’s quiet in-class demeanor fool you” said Mr. Daniel Dargis, Math, Chemistry and Physics teacher at École Notre Dame High School. He said, “Her passion to attain a level of complete understanding is one to be in awe of. Like in volleyball, Ceara is relentless in always looking to achieve excellence. I look forward to seeing Ceara continuing to push her own boundaries to achieve all of her future goals.”
Mr. Dargis describes Jacob saying “If he had a motto to his problem solving skills, it would be ‘if there’s a will, there’s a way.’ Jacob has a voracity to solve problems at all costs. He is unwilling to let a question get the better of him. This kind of attitude will only serve him in the future as he tackles the rigours of engineering.”
Lakeland Catholic School District is proud of Ceara and Jacob and the staff and teachers from Kindergarten to Grade 12 within the district. It is a team effort, and we are really proud of the teachers who set all our students up for success.
Ceara has been accepted into the Bachelor of Science Program at the University of Alberta and plans to become a Medical Researcher. Jacob has been accepted into the Engineering Program at the University of Alberta. Lakeland Catholic School District would like to wish both of you, all of the best in your future endeavours.
