St. Paul RCMP arrest one for ATM thefts at Boston Pizza and Bingo Hall

St. Paul RCMP have arrested a man in connection with the ATM thefts at St. Paul Bingo Hall and Boston Pizza in November.

On Jan. 24, 2019, a joint operation conducted by the St Paul RCMP and the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) resulted in the arrest of a male in relation to the break and enters and ATM thefts at the St Paul Bingo Hall and Boston Pizza.

RCMP were conducting strategic patrols in the Saddle Lake area and attempted a traffic stop with a wanted male in connection with their investigation. The male attempted to evade police in the vehicle and subsequently fled on foot by running into a residence. He was quickly apprehended inside the residence without incident.

Francis Cardinal (24) of Saddle Lake was arrested for multiple offences in relation to a May 2018 incident in Saddle Lake and is facing several charges, which include:

  • Trafficking property obtained by crime (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (x2)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Identity fraud
  • Obstructing a peace officer

He also had new charges laid from the break and enters at the St. Paul Bingo Hall and Boston Pizza on Nov. 14, 2018, as a result of the ongoing RCMP investigation. The charges include:

  • Breaking and entering (x2)
  • Mischief – damage to property over $5,000 (x2)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (x3)
  • Obstructing a peace officer

He was released by a Justice following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on Feb. 14, 2019.
