Patrols on Highway 29 lead to RCMP finding stolen truck
RCMP have arrested a man after finding him driving a stolen truck on Highway 29.
On Friday Dec. 14, members of the Eastern Alberta Rural Crime Reduction Unit were conducting patrols on Highway 29 in St. Paul. Police observed a suspicious vehicle which had a license plate that did not match the vehicle.
EADRCRU members, with the assistance from members of the St. Paul RCMP Detachment, conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle in the parking lot of a business in St. Paul.
Further investigation led police to discover that the vehicle had been reported as stolen out of Camrose approximately eight days earlier.
Evan Steinhauer was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
- Driving while disqualified.
- Failing to comply with recognizance conditions (x5)
- Driving an uninsured motor vehicle.
Steinhauer was also wanted on outstanding arrest warrants from the St. Paul RCMP Detachment and Edmonton Police Services.
Steinhauer was held for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in St. Paul Court tomorrow on Dec. 18.
