Fire Destroys Home in Bonnyville

On April 4th, Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) responded to a house fire on 49 Avenue of the 4100 block in Bonnyville. The fire was successfully extinguished, however it has left one person displaced.

“The house is inhabitable,” confirmed Fire Chief, Brian McEvoy, “the fire was contained to mainly the livingroom and kitchen of the upper suite.”

“One occupant was transported to hospital with minor injuries,” luckily, no one was seriously injured in the blaze.

There were two suites in the house, an upper level and a lower level. McEvoy stated that the occupants of the lower suite had moved out a few weeks prior.

Fire fighters worked on the house until mid-afternoon, when it was successful extinguished.

The cause of the fire is unknown and an investigation is ongoing, confirmed the Fire Chief.
