Elk Point RCMP execute search warrant and locate stolen property

On Dec. 19, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Elk Point RCMP with assistance from St. Paul Police Dog Services (PDS) executed a search warrant at a residence in Frog Lake First Nation.

As a result, several stolen items were recovered. Police seized two stolen trucks, a polaris ATV, truck tires, two firearms, ammunition, $1000.00 U.S. currency, marihuana (7 grams), and other drug paraphernalia.

William Desjarlais, a 49-year-old of Frog Lake was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5000.00, public mischief, various firearms offences and breach of probation.

He was remanded into custody and appeared in court yesterday. Desjarlais entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 60 days in custody.

Property crimes are a priority for the RCMP. Alberta RCMP are committed to increased inter-agency communication, shared criminal intelligence and a strategic focus on prolific property crimes offenders, in keeping with the K Division emphasis on crime reduction strategies.
