I’m sure glad that I don’t have to feed these big guys! Another terrific weekend for the hungry Bengals, who continued their winning streak, with the fourth win of the season; this time over the Lloydminster Chargers 15 to 1. This was the closest match of the year for the Bengals who came out of gate strong once more and were winning by 14 to 0 in the first half, with the help of the Elk Point crew.

Odin ‘the Wall’ Smith making a tackle and stripping the ball in the second quarter for a turnover. Charlie ‘Chuckles’ Rogal with an interception carrying the ball 15 yards before being pulled down. ‘Danny Boy’ Cardinal with a tackle on the 20 yard line to save a Chargers touchdown. This coming weekend the Bengals will be off eating Thanksgiving turkey, bulking up for the biggest test of the year against the only other undefeated team in the league, Bonnyville on October 14th.  This will be the last regular season game, the winner clutching first place, the loser second place, a match up that will likely be  a preview of the league championship.

Friday night under the lights the St. Paul Lions lost a very close one down in Wainwright 38 to 30. This coming week on Thursday October 5th the Lions will hosting Westlock. Kick-off is at 4pm, with a fundraiser BBQ for KidSport that evening as well. Come out and support the team.

The ‘Wizard‘ was performing his magic tricks again this past weekend for the Edmonton Padres fall ball team. Elk Point’s ace pitcher Austin Stafford can put a real spin on the ball that is impossible to touch, chucking 3 innings to close out the game this past Saturday against the Edmonton Prospects, getting 6 K’s, sending six batter to the dug- out giving them a chair,  the game ending in a 4 all tie.  On Sunday, the birthday boy was at it again this time at the plate with the bases juiced he pounded a double to the wall driving in two runs, then at his next at bat hitting a triple, and a then a single in the same game, the only thing he needed was a home run for the cycle!

The A.G.Ross ice plant is up and running full at full capacity. Tonight there’s a work bee to install the lines, and do some cleaning and unless there’s a hiccup the kids should be skating before the weekend. Come on out and lend a hand.

And now for the K.A. Campbell quote of the week. “The man who complains about the way the ball bounces is likely the one who dropped it.” – Lou Holtz
