31 year old Charged after damaging back of Police Cruiser

At approximately 1:00 am, on July 8th,  the Cold Lake RCMP were conducting a checkstop on English Bay Road and Beach Avenue. During the checkstop a 31 year old male pulled up and showed signs of having consumed alcohol. He subsequently failed a roadside screening test and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

S/Sgt for the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment, Jeremie Landry says following the arrest the suspect caused some problems, “he became violent in the back of the police vehicle. He caused mischief to the rear doors by kicking them and pulling them outward. He also urinated in the back of the police vehicle.”

31 year old, Jamie Paddy, of the Cold Lake area, has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample, uttering threats towards a RCMP member, mischief over $5,000 to the police vehicle, driving while disqualified, resisting a peace officer and five charges of failing to comply with a recognizance.

Paddy appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. The matter is back in the courts on July 26th. Paddy has other charges pending from previous incidents in Cold Lake and Lloydminster.
