Well, the regular season has ended for the Lakeland Junior B Heat. The Heat finished with only one regulation loss, and one overtime loss on the season. Last night, they finished things up against the Vermilion Roar. This is the Cave Inspections Post-Game Report.
On the ball
One focus of Head Coach Dennis Hodinsky’s coming into the game was loose balls. Donovan Bibeau opened the scoring for the Junior B Heat. Four and a half minutes later, Bibeau scored his second of the game. Five minutes in, it seemed the Heat had picked up virtually every loose ball that hit the floor in the period. Connor Fogarty cut the Heat lead in half just over a minute after the second Bibeau goal. Eric Coosemans and Brae Howatt ended the period with goals for the Heat. The lead was 4-1 nearly through the period, but the Roar answered back with a goal off the stick of Jared Fischer in the dying minutes.
“Yesterday we had a rough time picking up loose balls. Today, we have definitely picked up the balls out there so far.” Manny Ballash said after the first.
High energy second
Ethan Brown began a run of several goals in a short amount of time in the second. His goal with 11:28 to go was assisted by Donovan Bibeau and Issac Brown. Brayden Drury got the goal back for the Roar 32 seconds later. Issac Brown found the back of the net for the Heat, 28 seconds later. 30 seconds later David McCrae scored another goal for the Roar, and then 12 seconds later Connor Fogarty ended the insane two minutes of action. The score was 6-5 at that point. Donovan Bibeau scored his hat-trick goal with 8:26 to go in the second. The Heat didn’t look back as Issac Brown netted another goal in the period to boost their goal total to 8. David McCrae scored the final goal of the night for the Roar with just over a minute to go in the second.
