Pontiacs Spring Camp First Step in 2017-2018 Season

The Bonnyville Pontiacs hosted their spring camp from May 26-28 at the RJ Lalonde Arena. 160 players attended the camp that helps in the selection process for main camp in August.

Camp Meant Something

“The sweat and determination, just the pace of play and level and play that you got, you get the sense that the camp meant something for those guys. That’s the impression we wanted to create.” Head Coach Rick Swan says.

160 players go full out

The camp featured 160 players from all across North America, and right here in the Lakeland. Pontiacs who have already suited up for the team, also took part and provided a leadership role that was key to the camp. Teams practiced on Friday, and played inter-squad games on Saturday and Sunday. The players were put through practice drills that simulated real game situations.

Checking off the boxes

Spring camp is just the first of many things to come this summer for the Bonnyville Pontiacs. On Friday, May 26, Coach Rick Swan was in Red Deer for Alberta Junior Hockey League meetings. Invites for main camp are of top priority for the Pontiacs organization this summer. Other hockey operations will keep the organization busy over the next month and a half. The next big AJHL announcement will be the release of the league’s schedule.
