A look at what’s happening in Elk Point: May 12th, 2017
Enjoy meeting people, helping the community, or feeling satisfied in a job well done?
There’s lots going on in Elk Point right now, and there are lots of ways you can get involved.
Got Time? Canada Day events on July 1 showcase the community and attract guests from far and wide. The Canada Day committee would love some extra hands to help with manning kids’ and fair grounds activities. Including 5-8 volunteers watching over the bouncy houses, 4-6 volunteers taking on the dunk tank and other older kids/teen activities.
There is also a need for a person(s) to manage the business vendors section. There will be a free business vendors section, but only is someone comes forward willing to be the lead of the area. What that would include is making sure the vendors’ questions or concerns are addressed (if there are any), that area runs smoothly and that when the event is over everyone shuts down on time. You can have your own table in at the vendors section.
A group is needed to help clean the Canada Day grounds, as well as the arena the next day. This would likely take 2-4 hours depending on the size of the group.
All of the volunteer jobs come with a donation to whichever non-profit group is volunteering. The festivities are planned to be larger than ever, however cannot happen if volunteers are not available to help. The event will have to be scaled back drastically and some of the activities will be cancelled if there are not adequate volunteers.
