Bartman To Represent Team Alberta in Nationals
Jr B Ice player plays on National level.
It’s been a long season of hockey for Jacob Bartman. In his final year of midget eligibility, Bartman played a full season with the Cold Lake Junior B Ice. Bartman played for the Elizabeth Metis Settlement Midget Oilers at the Alberta Native Provincials. He and his teammates won the gold medal in their division.
Meeting in the tunnel
The gold medal celebration was sweet for Bartman and his teammates. What was to come after getting off the ice was going to be a great moment for Bartman
“A scout was watching me, he waited for me to get off the ice and asked me if I wanted to go play [in the National Aboriginal Championships].” Bartman says about how he was asked.
The Native Aboriginal Championships take place in Cowichan, B.C. May 1 – May 7. Jacob joins fellow Lakelander Brooke Skrypichayko (midget girl division) in the tournament.
Bartman has high expectations
Bartman made no secret of his expectations for the tournament while on his way to Edmonton.
“Gold medal.” Jacob said point blank.
Team Alberta will have a stop over in Jasper before heading the entire way to Cowichan. Jacob mentioned he knows about four of his teammates from previous encounters. They will play four round robin games at the tournament. If they move on, it will be a single elimination fight to get to the gold medal game.
