Ice Triumph over Wheat Kings
The Cold Lake Jr B Ice invited Killiam to Imperial Oil Place on Saturday evening and secured two points in front of the home town crowd. Head Coach for the Ice, Scott Hood says it was shutting down a crucial third period that got the team the win.
“Any time you get over a top tiered team, it’s a bonus,” the Ice are currently sixth in the Northeast Alberta Jr B Hockey League. Coach Hood says it’s time to climb, “we need to start moving up in the standings; this is a good start.”
The Ice let in a goal from Killiam in the first period from Tyler Sparrow, to head into the second playing catch up. It would be long for the Ice to tie it up and then advance with goals from Darian Hartley and Brody Rosychuk to make it a 2-1 game for the Ice, less than two minutes into the second.
The Wheat Kings, Clay Lang, tied it up at the 13:25 mark, only to have the Ice fire back with the advance 35 seconds left in the period. Jason Hamilton collected the game winner with Darian Hartley and Curtis Witney on the assists.
The Ice head into back-to-back-to-back games against the Vegreville Rangers, Wainwright Bison and Saddle Lake Warriors this weekend. Coach Hood has no doubts that the club can collect six points out of the weekend. It’s all about consistency and it’ll be hard work that’ll win the games.
The Ice will be on the road for Friday and Saturday’s games, returning to Imperial Oil Place on Sunday for a 7:45 pm puck drop. WIN tickets to the game on LCN!
